Scientists have found the enzyme responsible for the spread of cancer

Scientists from the London Institute of Cancer Research stated that they have found a way to help prevent the spread of cancer cells to other organs.

As reported by the BBC, the results of a study published in the journal Cancer Cell journal.

As it became known metastasis or migration of cancer cells from the original tumor to other parts of the body, are the cause of 90% of deaths from cancer related diseases.

Researchers found that in the spread of metastasis leading role played by the enzyme LOX. It is reported that researchers hope that drugs that block this enzyme may help curb the progression of the disease.

The researchers conducted experiments on mice with breast cancer, but they are confident that their results are also applicable to people suffering from other forms of cancer. "The opening is a critical missing element puzzle that scientists have long tried to assemble" - said the head of research Janine Erler.

According to her, for the first time been able to identify a key enzyme responsible for the spread of cancer cells. "If we can affect the body's ability to produce new sites for the movement of cancer cells there, we can effectively prevent the occurrence of metastasis," - said Erler.

"Cancer metastasis is very difficult to treat, and this new discovery provides a real hope that medicine will be developed that will combat the spread of cancer," - she added.

Stresses the importance of the new results and scientific information of the Department of the British Center for Cancer Julie Sharp.

"A more accurate picture of how the cancer spreads, it is very important in finding treatments for the disease. Research on scientists one step closer to understanding this problem. The next stage of scientific work will determine whether it can destroy an enzyme LOX, to stop the spread of cancer "- she said.

Earlier, on 4 March, California researchers announced that tiny fluorescent nanoparticles can pinpoint the location of cancer and deliver to the necessary medicines.
