Extra weight around the waist leads to problems in the Lungs

Extra weight around the waist can lead to problems in the lungs, said the French researchers. Previously, scientists have linked excess weight in the abdomen with diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease and a number of health problems, known as the metabolic syndrome. In this study, experts found that the fullness around the waist influence on lung function independently of other factors such as smoking and obesity. The researchers analyzed medical data of approximately 120 thousand people in France, appreciating the history of smoking, alcohol consumption, waist circumference, and various signs of metabolism. It turned out that there is a direct link between the deterioration of the lungs, and excess weight around the waist, still specialists were unable to explain the precise reasons for its appearance. The study was published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
