Endometriosis is a precursor of cancer

Convincing evidence on this occasion were British and American researchers. In the journal International Journal of Cancer doctors have published a report on molecular genetic data that were collected from the epidemiological and histological results of women's diseases.

Endometriosis and endometrioid ovarian cancer have similar predisposing factors. Dr. Amanda H. Prowse of the University of Oxford with his colleagues analyzed 10 cases of such diseases. The researchers found 63 cases of loss of heterozygosity in the samples of carcinoma, 22 cases were also found in the relevant endometrioid samples.

And in those, and others had lost the same allele. The authors consider it unlikely that these common genetic changes have occurred as independent events, and suggest that endometriosis is a precursor endometrioid ovarian cancer.
