You can lose hearing from cotton pads

Drivers and passengers who are in an accident in the car, often become deaf. Cotton loud, resonant at the time of disclosure airbags, may cause long-term hearing loss for 17% of people. This conclusion, the results of several experiments, came to the American physiologist Richard Price. Scientist created the model of the human ear and subjected to its effects of different noise volume more than 130 decibels, which is comparable to the roar, which is audible at the runway during take-off man jet.

It was found that the cotton in the deployment of airbags, but lasts for a fraction of a second, no less loud, and thus very dangerous to your hearing. In passing, Price decided to test the hypothesis that in the closed windows of road noise damages the ear cushions worse than with the windows open because of the fact that in a closed car pressure above.

Physiologist is experimentally verified and found that all of the other way around: with windows closed cotton pillows less dangerous, despite the high blood pressure, which actually gives a shot of the inner ear ( "responsible" for damage to your hearing), but suffers in this way, middle ear and less harm. Price hopes that developers of security take into account the results of his work.
