Receiving medication monitor sensor in tooth

The group of scientists from Israel, with the support of the EU completes its work on the project a miniature device for dosed introduction of drugs, which may be indigenous prosthesis implant in the patient's tooth - IntelliDrug project. According to the author of innovative ideas, an Israeli dentist Dr. Andy Wolff, a new way of introducing drugs has several clear advantages. The point is that patients are usually not inclined to comply with the prescribed regime of medication, even if it affects their lives. Furthermore, the additional inconvenience to patients frequently results in the need to take medication at night. Full automation of the process of introducing drugs into the body could once and for all solve the problems. In particular, implanted in a tooth doser medication can greatly facilitate the lives of diabetes patients, forced to do a few injections of insulin a day. Designed by scientists of the instrument called IntelliDrug includes medication reservoir, a pump, control valve, the microprocessor and battery. The medicine will be injected to the inside of your cheeks, where it will be quickly absorbed in the mucous membrane, and without delay, enter the blood. Currently, a prototype device successfully tested on pigs, is slightly higher than the size of a human tooth, but in the next few months, the developers intend to reduce it to acceptable parameters. Clinical trials IntelliDrug is scheduled to begin later this year.
